Since his first “One Man One Rod” collection of fishing tackle was exhibited at the Engineerium in Hove in December 1981, David Petty has continued to be an avid collector of rare and fine rods, roach poles, reels and tackle accessories. His constant search for rare items in the best possible condition has created a second huge collection. The antique and vintage rods illustrated in his book: ‘One Man One Rod’, published in 2020, are the core of it, but now the wider collection is gathered and offered for sale here.

I met David in 1982, answering a local newspaper ad. for fishing books and we have shared many fishing trips and countless stories ‘over a few pints of Guiness’ since.

In 2020 I completed the photography of his rod collection and published “One Man One Rod - The Art of Classic Split Cane”.

​

During the last forty-odd years his single-minded hunt for quality, rarity and fine condition never wavered, and I am pleased and proud as the present owner to offer his collection for sale.
